The Polish government has announced today it`s intension to amend
the labour codex Principally making it more beneficial for employees.
Among the planned amendments, a limitation on temporary employment contracts
known as 'umowa o praca". Employees under such contracts would be entitled after six month to demand a full employment contract and be entitled to raise such a demand every year.
Employers will be precluded from entering a condition to any employment contract prohibiting the employee from perusing another employment concurrently with the employment at hand.
Following birth paid leave will last for 41 weeks and in case of giving birth to more than one child 43 weeks. Each of the parents shall be required to take at least 9 weeks leave.
employees will have the right to take a paid leave of up to 16 hours in case of force majeure
Parents who take care of children under 8 years of age would be able to take an unpaid leave of up to 5 days.
The above is not a full description of all the projected changes. Anyway we should examine those, after legislation is passed by the Sejm. I just wanted to alert readers to the trend in Poland of giving more impetus to employee`s rights, over those of the employers
.
